Located in the heart of Summit County surrounded by the Gore, Ten Mile, and Williams Fork mountain ranges, Lake Dillon is a boater's paradise. Whether you want to enjoy the sights of a Sunday regatta, cruise from one end of the late to the other or simply paddle through the shallows to discover wildlife, you'll find your niche on Lake Dillon.
The island region of the lake, located on the northwestern shore, is a paddler's dream. From a canoe or kayak you can explore the various nooks on the lake, view nesting Osprey and discover hidden beaver ponds. Wildlife abounds, and it's common to see deer, elk or a pair of foxes roaming along the shore on quiet mornings.
Sailing has also become a favorite lake activity. The mountain winds create a challenge for even the most experienced sailors. The Dillon Yacht Club hosts several regattas each summer. Both the Frisco Bay Marina and Dillon Marina offer a variety of services including sailboat, fishing boat, power boat, pontoon, canoe and kayak rentals. They also offer various charters, tours, and lessons, as well as retail sales. Slips and moorings can also be rented for the season at these marinas, and complimentary boat ramps are available.
The Green Mountain Reservoir, located 30 miles north of Silverthorne, offers another option for water activities. With public beaches scattered along much of its numerous miles of shoreline, you're sure to find a spot perfect for you. Green Mountain Marina in Heeney offers fishing boat rentals, fuel and summer long slip rental.
