River Rafting/Kayaking
Regardless of what river or tour company you choose reservations are required,
and it is recommended to contact the river tour company for more information,
as river conditions, and offered trips change frequently. The the saftey of river
rafters, the State of Colorado puts stringent training requirements on rafting guides
and rafting tour operators. Most trips offered are either half-day or full-day anthough some overnight trips
are available.

River rafting is very popular in Summit County and the Vail Valley.
Get wet, in a kayak or on a raft trip. Whitewater rages across the state
throughout the year, but the real fun flows from late May through September.
Three rivers are available; the Arkansas river, the Blue river and the Colorado River.
The wildest river rafting is on the Arkansas river during the heavy snowmelt from
late May through June. The most popular run is through Brown's Canyon located south
of Leadville. Plan on getting wet!
The Blue River and Colorado River are more popular for float trips and more mild whitewater
better suited to bring a camera and to enjoy the scenery on the river.
